The YEAR that WASN'T what WAS PROMISED!!!!!

This year (2010) comes to an end in exactly 37 hours and 11 minutes from the tie that I typed this first line.
Could I have done more, YES, could I have made a larger difference, YES, Was I given a chance to do so......NO!

This might sound to some as an excuse or a cop out; to say that I wasn't given a chance.  The fact is that many were not given a chance because our voices or efforts were squashed by unforeseen, unexpected, or sudden events that derailed the effort put forward.  does it mean that WE quit, NO!  I, for one, am not a quitter in any manner.  My persistence precedes me and my tenacity endures me.
I will say that one of the big differences in the path that was blocked was selfishness.

Selfishness as described is....SELFISH....

This year more than any was a year of SELFISHNESS..  Why, because "people were Exclusively concerned about themselves and looking to gain their OWN ADVANTAGE IN DISREGARD FOR OTHERS."

As I worked and played I noticed the amount of people that were so into themselves that they disregarded the notion that there are other people out there.  Some that needed someone to point them in the right direction and show that they were selfish as well.
How many times were you cut off on the Interstate, rural road or the Freeway, because someone or somebody was so into themselves that they paid no regard to your space and privilege to drive on the federally funded (Citizen taxpayer money = OUR MONEY) roads.  How selfish is that?
How many times have people been in SUCH A HURRY - Our SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO).... You can find Recipes for people in a hurry, workouts for people in a hurry, diets for people in a hurry, buy things for people in a hurry,,,etc. etc.  It is just amazing how many people are in a hurry.  WHY?????  Because we want to be there first and be the FIRST.  ME, ME, ME.......

It is getting worse.  It was always thought by revisionists that the The 80's was the generation of GREED (report by Richard McKenzie)  and "ME"...right??? WRONG--- the 00's is The 80's on steroids. And now that we step into the 2010's there is no stopping the amount of the "gotta have it" mentality of our culture.  As if WE THE PEOPLE deserve anything and everything.  Yet we will put up with or complain about what our government is doing with and spending our money on.  With every day a new social network is created a new gotta have it electronic is sold by HSN or another channel that just markets selfish behavior.  it is getting worse and is not even touched the surface at its worst.

We have been labeled into an abyss of branding and marketing used by those in our government and media working hand-in-hand together that it would be heralded by the Hitler Nazi party propaganda machine as a Triple A+.  Our society has become more selfish through ignorance of what got us to this point than at any point in our American history and modern era.  You can Google the crap out of what is being done to US in the U.S.

Yes we are also a country of giving and philanthropy, like non-other (compared to what? FRANCE?, Saudi Arabia?), but wouldn't it be nice if people would multiply this giving spirit and get off their duff and give for once????  Oh, I see - it's not your problem???  Oh YES it is.  It is all of our problem, because only a few give, and I mean really give, not just taxes to be dolled out by our Government hacks, but Give from the heart without expectation.  Give; for such a small four letter word has a lot of definitions, more-so than SELFISHNESS.  Give is the largest four letter word, yet is probably less accepted than many other derogatory four-letter-words.

So while you are delved into your I-pod and on your selfish endeavor; too concerned about what is happening to you, in your little life, that you block out all else that is around you and step on the others toes to get in front and be first, remember, there is somebody that will always be there before you and have more than you, whether it is financial or some other reward; just find contentment and be CONTENT that you made it to your destination without stepping on another to get there.
